What to Expect From a Free Tree Service Estimate
How our free, no-obligation tree service estimate works: the on-site walkthrough, what we assess, your itemized quote, and how fast we can schedule.
What “Free Estimate” Actually Means
A free tree service estimate from us is:
- A certified crew member walking your property in person
- An assessment of the tree(s) in question, access, and hazards
- A written, itemized quote you can hold onto
- No obligation to book — take it, compare it, sleep on it
- No sales pressure or upselling
You don’t pay for the estimate. You don’t sign anything binding. And you don’t get a follow-up sales call trying to close you.
What Happens On Site
- We arrive at the scheduled time — usually within a 30-minute window
- Property walkthrough — you show us the tree(s), we ask questions about your concerns
- Tree assessment — condition, size, structural issues, hazards
- Access review — where can we set up equipment, where does the debris go
- Municipal check — permit requirements if applicable (Scarsdale, Mamaroneck, Rye)
- Itemized quote — labor, equipment, cleanup, hauling, any optional add-ons
- Questions & answers — anything you want to know about the plan or process
The visit itself takes 20 to 40 minutes for a typical residential property. Larger properties or multi-tree jobs run longer.
What’s Included in the Quote
Every quote breaks out:
- The scope of work (which tree, what service)
- Labor and crew time
- Equipment (bucket truck, crane, chipper)
- Cleanup and hauling
- Optional add-ons (stump grinding, additional trees, hedge work)
- Any permit fees passed through from the town
You’ll see exactly what you’re paying for. No mystery bundles, no “misc” line items.
Scheduling After You Approve
For standard work (pruning, removal without a crane, stump grinding), we typically schedule within a few days to a couple of weeks depending on season and workload. Storm season and late fall are busier.
For emergencies, we skip the estimate step entirely — we dispatch same-day, quote on site, and start work.
For land clearing or commercial contracts, lead times are longer because of permit filings and coordination with your builder or property manager.
Diagnostic Assessments Are Different
The free estimate covers work you already know you want to do — “remove this dead oak,” “prune this maple,” “grind these three stumps.”
If you want a diagnostic assessment — “is this tree salvageable? what’s making it decline?” — that’s a tree health assessment with a written report starting at $150. It’s a different service, and worth every dollar when you’re trying to save a valuable specimen tree.
